AUTHOR'S NOTE
As incredulous as it may seem, the flim flam around which Bait and Switch is structured is based on an actual criminal case prosecuted in Boston some years ago. The matter was referred to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office by the then newly-founded Governor's Auto Theft Strike Force, created in response to a report labeling Boston as "The Stolen Car Capital of the United States." My very dear friend and colleague, Leonard J. Henson, Chief of the Organized Crime Division in Suffolk County for over a decade, ultimately prosecuted the case to a successful result. Bait and Switch, however, advances the case forward a few years so as not to reveal my capacious knowledge of the late '70s and early '80s and, therefore, what an old ninny I really am.

HIGH PRAISE FOR ANDREW McALEER'S BAIT AND SWITCH...
 |

"You don't simply read Andrew McAleer's 'Bait and Switch', you careen through it. The characters communicate in a hilarious streetwise subdialect, the cops are witty and sometimes female, and the lowdown heavies have gangster names like the hoods of Elmore Leonard - Micky Asparagus, Charlie the Bum. This is a rollercoaster of a book. Take a wild ride." |

"'Bait and Switch', Andrew McAleer's latest entry into the mystery field, is a take on the stolen car racket that is itself full of baits and switches
that are funny and fast paced. The tale consists in large part of rapid repartee between various characters, good and bad, and in lesser part of
quick, graphic action scenes that move the story right along. When justice finally triumphs, the reader has cfompleted a wild ride during which wit has prevailed and the laughs havie been plentiful." |

"'Bait and Switch', is wry, brisk, and loads of Fun. Droll PI James Hillton and Miss Sophia Blossom are every bit as entertaining as Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd in the good old days" |
