WEST 35TH STREET AWARD

EDGAR RECIPIENT JOHN MCALEER'S
WEST 35TH STREET AWARD

Founded in 2002 by John and Andrew McAleer, the West 35th Street Award is given in honor of Rex Stout's larger-than-life New York City private investigators Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin, whose sleuthing career spanned seven decades. Nero Wolfe's brownstone is located in Manhattan: West 35th Street.

Stout was a zealous supporter of emerging authors as well as the PI genre. In 1978, John McAleer, Stout's official biographer, won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Rex Stout: A Biography.

The purpose of the West 35th Street Award is to recognize new and outstanding talent in the PI genre. Only Associate Members of the Private Eye Writers of America qualify for entry. Winner receives a parchment certificate, honorarium, and publication of the winning story in a future issue of Crimestalker Casebook. There is no entry fee. Submissions for the Third Annual 35th Street Award will be accepted next summer. Watch for the announcement in an upcoming Relfections in a Private Eye!

Good luck and happy sleuthing. --John & Andrew McAleer
